Foamed TPU — one single high-tech material, engineered for insoles

Every insoles4.me insole is 3D printed from foamed thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) — a biocompatible, expanding high-tech material formulated specifically for orthopedic insoles. One material does everything: support, cushioning, and surface — with recyclability built in from the start.

What is foamed TPU?

Thermoplastic polyurethane is a flexible, skin-friendly polymer used for years in sports footwear, medical products, and orthopedic applications. In its foamed form, the material expands during processing into a fine cellular structure — combining the softness of a foam with the resilience and durability of an engineering plastic.

Energy return, durability, low weight

The closed-cell foam compresses under load and springs back, returning impact energy to your stride. TPU resists compression set far better than conventional EVA foams, so insoles keep their shape and support. The foamed structure is mostly air, making printed insoles lighter and thinner than milled cork or layered foam builds.

Breathable, hygienic, consistent

3D printing allows open lattice zones that let air circulate under the foot. TPU doesn't soak up moisture, so insoles can be rinsed clean with lukewarm water and mild soap. Digital processing means every pair is printed with the same density and structure.

One material instead of many layers

Conventional insoles bond a support shell, cushioning pads and a top cover with adhesives — nearly impossible to recycle. Our printing process shapes support, cushioning and the walking surface from a single material by varying the printed structure. No adhesives, no mixed-material waste.

Built for the circular economy

TPU is a thermoplastic — it can be melted down and reprocessed at the end of its life. Single-material insoles form a clean, single-origin material stream that can actually be recycled rather than downcycled or landfilled.

Skin-friendly and biocompatible

TPU is well established in products worn directly on the body and contains no plasticizers of the kind used in soft PVC. Insoles are non-medical comfort and support products.
